Comprehensive Plans
What is a Comprehensive Plan?
The comprehensive plan is essentially a compilation of recommendations on how the community should grow, the guidance document for the vision of future trends, goals and objectives.
Why complete the comprehensive planning process?
The process seeks to engage all members of the community to create a more prosperous, convenient, equitable, healthy and attractive place for present and future generations. The citizens of the community should have a say in the future of their community. A comprehensive review of community's issues and policies promote discussion among citizens and can prevent unintended consequences that may occur when decisions are made without this insight. When WCNDD completes a comprehensive plan, there are several ways citizen input is obtained. Nebraska Department of Economic Development finds the plans useful and considers the information within the plan for certain grant opportunities.
