WCNDD Administrative Board Appoints Two (2) New Board Members:

AMANDA ENGELL, a passionate advocate for McCook, Nebraska, leads housing development efforts at the McCook Economic Development Corporation (MEDC).

A Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a Bachelor of Business in Interior & Product Design, Amanda brings a unique blend of creativity and construction expertise to her role.

Driven by a desire to address the critical housing shortage facing rural Nebraska, Amanda has spearheaded the development of eleven (11) new homes in McCook.

She's also revitalized five (5) upper-story apartments and actively pursued innovative solutions like MicroTIF and a Vacant Property Registry to enhance community livability.

Recognized nationally for her design talent, Amanda's commitment extends beyond her professional duties.  She serves on the McCook Housing Authority Board, contributes to Beautify McCook and McCook Connects, and advises the University of Nebraska at Kearney's Interior & Product Design Program.

MARK BOTTOM:  Trading the battlefield for the badge, Mark returned to his roots in 1992 after a stint of active-duty service with overseas deployments.  For the next 14 years, he dedicated himself to upholding the law as a Deputy Sheriff, Chief Deputy, and ultimately, Sheriff of Perkins County.

In 2006, he traded his uniform for a chalkboard, embarking on a new chapter as an educator in the Chase County Public Schools.  He relished his time as a teacher, coach, and athletic director, nurturing young minds and fostering a love for sports.

Retirement in 2020 didn't slow Mark down as he was elected District 2 Perkins County Commissioner, serving as Board Chairman during his first term.

Currently, Mark is assisting in leading the charge to restore vital healthcare to our community.  As President of the Board for Western Sky Community Care Center Mark is assisting with the spearheading for the construction of a new 40-bed nursing home in Grant.  Thanks to the generosity of our community and surrounding communities we've secured over $3 million for this critical project, with construction set to begin in March 2025.
